Project done during the third Semester at University in the Course ‘ Editorial Design’. The idea was to design a fairytale book not only suitable for children but also for teenagers and young adults. So the main problem was to create illustrations that are not too childish but still recognizable for fairytale fans. I decided that an minimalistic and flat way of illustrating the characters without showing too much details of the face was the ideal way to go. The whole book contains four stories including Snow White, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. Every story has a color scheme, showing on the edge of every page, and every story starts with an illustration of the main character at the right page and a quote on the left page. All in all I’m satisfied with the outcome of my first ever book design.
